In our explorations of the evolution of stories and the written word, Electric Bookshop has found fascinating overlap and connections with literature and games, game culture and interactive narratives.
We are pleased to announce we are collaborating with BAFTA-winning games studio Lucky Frame to bring you a super Saturday of interactive fun exploring the creative culture of games, and looking at how great storytelling brings game play to life.
1pm – Interactive Stories – Choices that Matter – a talk by games writer Gavin Inglis about structuring an interactive narrative
2pm – 5pm – Choose Your Own Adventure – Twine Jam! – join this workshop to introduce you to the basics of Twine and then create your own interactive text game. Fun and snacks included!
6pm – Twine Jam Talks – Participants in the Twine Jam present their creations from this afternoon’s Twine Jam over drinks.
7pm – Film Screening of Pixel Poetry – A documentary that explores the cultural development of videogames and their role as art, with fascinating insights from games insiders and makers. Followed by a Skype chat with Pixel Poetry director Richard James Cook. Refreshments will be served.
As always at Electric Bookshop events there will be plenty of opportunity to meet others and socialise during and after the events.
